You might think it's hard to create a suggestion box because it's not a built-in feature in Slack. Good guess, but you're wrong, it's quite easy!
Just add the Incognito bot to your workspace and in a few clicks and it will create one for you automatically
By default, the suggestion box Incognito creates is for private feedback for leadership. A simplified GIF can show you how it works better than I ever could:
The list of use cases for a Slack suggestion box is long. Off the top of my head:
I'm sure you, the reader, can think of even more use cases! Because you can create a Slack channel for any purpose you can likely create a suggestion box for any purpose as well.
So you installed the amazing Incognito bot and you and your team love the private leadership suggestion box, awesome! Now you're looking to take things to the next level. You wonder how you can create a public suggestion box and maybe how to moderate it so it stays on message and appropriate. Well I guess it's your lucky day because we've already equipped Incognito with this feature.
Just head over to the Admin home page by clicking Incognito under the apps section. Click the “Anytime Feedback” tab. (Pulse Surveys is the other tab. They're like a poll, but better. But that's not what this specific landing page is about... if you're curious you can read about it here)
Once you’re on the Anytime Feedback page you’ll find a button labeled “Public feedback channel”. Click the button and you can select the relevant channel and enable/disable leadership moderation.
This is a complicated one as the reasons your team need one depends on your use case and company culture. At Incognito we believe in equality of opinion, safety in honesty, and empowering everyone. This means that anonymous feedback can be used as a super power to “Upgrade Your Feedback Culture” ← that’s our catch-phrase, btw.
When you allow your team to give you feedback and suggestions honestly through anonymity it shows them you care about their ideas, not about punishing them when they disagree with the way things are done. Also, it reduces the barrier for reserved/shy employees. Think about it, you could have the best idea in the world but if you’re just quiet by nature you may keep it to yourself. If you can share your message anonymously it removes all of the fear and let’s you speak your mind.
Wow, so many questions, slow down.
